The drum :
The SD drums are fitted over the original forestay without cutting the wire. Our drums are mainly made of extruded aluminum parts, machined and black hard anodized as well as the 2 plates containing the furling line. There are two large stainless bearings, packed in grease, fitting into the drum to ensure smooth furling . The drum being completely sealed is maintenance free.
The drum assembly is fitted to the forestay lower eye or the stemhead using link plates and a stainless pin to the required size. This pin is linked to the drum using nylon bushes to isolate the furler from the forestay preventing from electrolysis phenomenon. FACNOR can also provide turnbuckle kits (see technical description) in order to raise the drum from deck and internal turnbuckle kits which allow several fitting combinations on a rigging screw forestay. Four stainless steel arms prevent the furling line from falling off the drum.

The halyard swivel :
The halyard swivel is made of extruded aluminum, machined and then anodized. It uses stainless roller bearings, guaranteeing free running under heavy load. |
| | Sections :
FACNOR produces 2 wide ranges of sections " SD " & " R " more or less elliptical in shape. Those 2 kinds of furling sections have two symmetrical sail grooves ( to hoist 2 sails at the same time) and are available in two meter length for the " SD " range and in 3.10 meter length for " R " range (other dimensions can be supplied if requested). |
